You might have heard about Obama’s $10 billion plan to bail out people with bad mortgages. I’m not even going to go into the details of it to explain why it’s a colossally bad idea.
Quite simply, it is a tax on those of us who were prudent and bought houses within our means. I’ll grant that the present situation of multiple defaults is not good for banks and other prospective buyers. The panic it has created has made it much more difficult for anyone to get a loan to buy a house. It’s translated into a general pull-back in lending overall.
A lesson needs to be learned by a great many people. And a government bailout is NOT going to teach that lesson. It will instead reinforce the bad behavior, guaranteeing more of it in the future.
I maintain that this all started with government pressure to increase home ownership of certain politically-preferred identity groups, regardless of qualification. The only proper way out of this situation is for people to lose their homes, banks to lose money to defaults, mortgage brokers to lose money to lawsuits from the banks to which they sold mortgages they knew were bad, and congresscritters to lose their seats when the depth of their perfidy is revealed.
I hold out no hope of any of this happening. Instead, I will be told, at virtual gunpoint, that I am expected to pick up some part of the slack for some idiot that makes less money than I do to help him pay a mortgage on a house four times larger than the one I bought.
I am to be punished for daring to live within my means.

A friend told me the other night that Obama was playing the race card to get elected. Nothing could be further from the truth. He’s not the one playing the card, Hillary! is. And she was vicious to Edwards too.
Look at what Hillary! does. She tells little lies to her friends in the media about Obama. She has her surrogates float little vignettes about how he must have been a drug dealer, because, you know…
Hillary! is the bitchy ex-girlfriend that just can’t let go. She talks shit to your buddies about your new girl. She gets up in your face about how good you had it. She gets catty with your new girl in public. She calls you in the middle of the night begging you to take her back. She even turns on the water works.
Hillary! is the ultimate woman scorned. The American people will not take kindly to her racialist tactics. I shall take great pleasure in watching her self-destruct.
I cannot believe how far we have fallen. This election, we are given 5 choices – three Republicans, two Democrats, populists all.
That’s right – ALL populists. Populist is the new term for progressive, which was the new term for liberal, which was the new term for statist, which was the new term for communist.
I’ve been called a DKos/DU plant, a child, and an idiot – all in the span of one comment thread, because I don’t see any material difference between McCain and Clinton/Obama. The party apologists keep throwing “the war” in my face, as though Clinton really means it when she says she’s going to pull out. Which doesn’t really matter much, given that no matter who wins come November, we’re going to have a populist president.
Let me ask you a question – What is the point of winning the war against the Islamists if we lose everything that makes us Americans in the first place? Is spiritual death somehow more acceptable than physical death?
I really don’t care who wins the election in November. This country will continue its slide to the left. There is nothing that is going to convince the bulk of the populace that this is a Bad Thing. I’ll just have to wait it out, and hope it doesn’t fall before I croak. And if it looks like the fall is coming, maybe there’s some place on Earth I can beat feet to that’s not trying to destroy itself at breakneck speed.
I wish I could be optimistic about it. But I can’t. Nothing short of the goodies running out is going to stop this country’s slide to socialism.
Vegas has to be shitting itself right now. This wasn’t supposed to happen. The New England Patriots had a date with destiny.
And they got stood up. Destiny went home with the New York Giants tonight.
I take back everything bad I ever said about you Eli. I should have had faith.
