What about the hearings for the fired gay gunners?

This is a bit odd. It seems that the only gays being released from the military are Arabic linguists. Are linguists so plentiful that we can afford to ditch the gay ones? That must be it, otherwise why isn’t Congress bitching at the pentagon about all the gay officers that they let go, or the gay drivers, or the gay mechanics.

Or is it just that the linguist job sucks horse balls, and saying “I’m fabulous” is an easy way to get out of your commission with little or no social stigma in the civilian world?

Because I’m hard pressed to come up with an alternate explanation why there isn’t a similar ratio of gays in any other job.

Barbara Boxer is daft.

Channel surfing is going to drive me insane.

Barbara Boxer is flapping her stupid gums about global warming in committee. I feel stupider just for listening to her talk.

She starts with an assertion that Global Warming is “100% real” and “90% certain that human activity is the cause”. So, she’s already started with a known falsehood. She then makes an analogy that is beyond stupid. She says “If a doctor told you that he was 90% certain that your child had cancer, and we had to operate now to save him”, and proceeds to try and make the comparison between AGW and it’s proposed “solutions”, and saving a child from cancer.

Which is when I felt the intelligence draining from my skull and hit the channel change button.

Because the analogy she SHOULD be looking for, if she wants to be accurate and intellectually honest is this: Your doctor tells you that you have cancer, and he’s 90% certain that your child is the cause, and you have to kill your child now if you are to live.

If she wanted to be intellectually honest, that is. But she doesn’t. Like all liberals, her only goal is complete and utter control of the lives of those she views as her subjects, with no regard for the destruction she will wreak on the civilization in which they live.

RIP, GOP.

The Republicans have signed their death certificate today.  By going along with this amnesty bill, they have managed not only to completely alienate just about every member of their party, but they have handed anywhere between 20 and 50 million votes to the Democratic side of every election from now on.

And guess what else - we get to pay for all these people who can’t get jobs in their own decrepit countries to come here and not learn English, not assimilate, and drive down the cost of labor.

Such a bargain!

Canada’s looking better every day.

And the water stays where it belongs.

Outside.

It was leaking quite badly around the chimney when the Gor’easter blew through here a few weeks back.   So I took a bucket of flashing tar up there and went to town.

Apparently, tromping my fat ass around up there loosened the seal around one of the sewer vent pipes, since I noticed a puddle in the basement.   Went into the attic, and watched the water follow the pipe all the way down.   Stuff from underneath, Tar from above - no water this time.

And now I’ve put in the final piece of redirection on the downspout at the garage.   I’ll clean out the gutter junction between the house and the garage tomorrow, and we’ll see what this weekend’s downpour does to me, if anything.

Ah, the joys of home ownership.

Dog meets Cap’n Crunch. Hilarity ensues.

Ok, a bit of an exaggeration.   Dog has learned that Good Things come in boxes, especially ones with crinkly bags in them.   So I get the “where’s mine?” look from dog, and I throw her a piece of cereal.

It’s still on the floor.   She sniffed it, and prodded it, and licked it, but decided to leave it there.

There’s no pleasing some people.

Fuck Michelle from Cardholder Services

and her 6.99% rate.   This machine keeps calling me.   They tell you to push 8 to be taken off their calling list, and pushing 8 always yields something along the lines of “that selection is not valid”.   So this time, I pushed 9, like they want you to, so I could talk to a “live operator”

So I get the operator, who asks me if I’m calling about low interest rates.   I inform her that no, I’m not, and you have called a business, and would you please stop.   Her response?

OK, we’ll call back tomorrow.

That would be unwise.

“We’re going to shove it down his throat”

Joe Biden on the Iraq Surrender bill that is expected to be vetoed by President Bush.

Now, care to tell me that this isn’t about the Legislative branch neutering the executive branch thereby rendering it irrelevant?
