OK, so I’m not a good construction estimator.

The best laid plans of mice and men gang oft agley.

Move by 11/20? NOT!
12/3? NOT NOT!

So, come December 3, I’ll be commuting to work. To my own house.

What an incredible pain in the ass that’s going to be.

Whose side are they on, really?

Flopping Aces (h/t Instapundit) points out a curious situation with AP. They appear to have been getting “official” police reports from an imposter, and running them as news.

Problem is, at least one of the incidents used to convince the American people in the run-up to the November, 2006 elections never happened.

How many people voted against the Republicans on the basis of these false “news” reports? How many people are arguing that we ought to leave Iraq to have their civil war after hearing tales of events that did not occur?

It would appear that we have just given political Islamism its greatest victory since Madrid, and they didn’t even have to blow anyone up to do it. All they had to do was get AP to believe they’d done so.

Can I question their patriotism yet?

I voted. So what?

Went to do my “civic duty” today.

I voted “no” for governor. And I had the distinct pleasure to vote against Lieberman AND the insane socialist, all at once! Saw three libertarians on the ballot, which surprised me so much I had to vote for them.

And I got to chat up the Lamont and Lieberman sign girls (both quite cute, by the way) and explain to them why neither of their candidates are worthy. So, there’s that anyhow.

Rented a steamer to remove wallpaper. That takes some effort, let me tell you. Ken did a fair amount of the holding the steamer while I did the scraping. That was for one wall. It’s actually easier for one person to do the whole job, as he found out.

While he used up the last of the first tankful on the steamer, I started rippingup nail-strips and staples from the dining room floor. It’s become apparent that I’m not gonna have everything done in time for the 20th. So, I’m going to get the dining room, kitchen and the back bedroom done, painted, floored, and finished. At least I’ll be able to live in it with that. Anything else that gets done in time for relocation is gravy. I’ll just run the business from the dining room for now. At least I’ll be functional. And I won’t have to drive to the house after work to do anything to it, I’ll already be there.

Oh, the pain? I think I wrenched my back helping Ken change out the brakes on his Jeep. Such is life.

COLD!

Holy Shit Batman! 29.8 degrees (Fahrenheit) at 7:30 AM. And we’re only looking at a high of 43 today.

So much for Autumn.

Wallpaper Sucks.

Especially when you are trying to remove two layers of it.

Apparently I didn’t perforate it enough in the front room, since it’s not separating at all. And in the back room, 2 coats of enzyme weren’t enough to separate it completely. And that’s only to take one layer off.

I think I’m just going to rent the steamer and hope for the best.
