No time for sex?

Women in England turning to In-vitro fertilization because they have no time for sex?

How, pray tell, do they intend to RAISE the child? If they haven’t the time to have a shag, where will they find the time to change a nappie?

Or do they intend to outsource the entire thing? Why not go whole hog, and adopt an 18 year old? Cut all the time-consuming pregnancy, delivery, recovery, raising, teaching, sharing of life-experiences, growing, nurturing - and go right to being proud of the achievements that you had no time to take part in?

Just pathetic. Why even have a child if your life is so full you haven’t time for an intimate relationship with another adult human being?

Words you don’t want to hear

Unintentional humor on CNBC. Caught the tail end of some guy talking about finding a site for a nuclear (pronounced: NOO’-KLEE-UR) power plant. He used a phrase that I don’t think I want to hear in the same phrase as “nuclear power”:

“We want to make sure we get the biggest bang for the buck

The look on his face made it seem like he realized the error of his speech after the fact. Ah, well.

I predicted this

More than fifteen years ago, when I was not yet old enough to consume adult beverages, I made a prediction that earned me the apellation “gay basher”, along with the epithet “looney”. I stated simply this:

If homosexuality becomes accepted as ‘normal’ in the mainstream of society, pedophiles will be next in line to claim that they are ‘normal’.

First there was NAMbLA. Now there’s this. (Source reference here in case WND disappears.)

If this is not the beginning of a movement to mainstream pedophelia, I don’t know what it is.

And I was told that there was no possible way that this could happen because there was no linkage between the homosexual advocates and the pedophile advocates, and besides the homosexuals were normal just like us, but those pedos are total pervs.

I never insinuated a linkage between the groups. I simply stated that if society accepted one group of people that were long castigated as ‘perverted’ and out-of-the-ordinary, then other groups, even farther out of the mainstream, would demand the same.

And so they have. Does society have the courage to finally draw the line and hold fast to it?

The state is not your friend

I get the editorial cartoons sent to me every morning. I need something to piss me off when I get up, I guess. They never cease to amaze me with their inanity.

The past several days, every one of them that touches on the plight of New Orleans focuses exclusively on the federal government. Why?

Two reasons, I suspect. First is the standard leftist (and the vast majority of editorial writers and editorial cartoonists are leftists) belief in the primacy of the federal government. They love centralization, and the federal government is their shrine. Therefore, the federal government should be the first — perhaps the only — responder to all emergencies.

The other is worse, I think. The federal government has for so long promised to fix everything that people in general now expect it. And then, as they always have (and always shall) they don’t deliver. It’s certainly not for lack of trying, or for lack of desire. It’s just that government is inherently incompetent to solve the problems of the individual.

All I’m gonna say about Katrina

While FEMA may be the worlds largest pooch-screw, and Bush’s PR firm needs to get more pictures of him crying to placate the lefties, the Federal Government is not to blame for the deaths in Louisiana.

Nonthing can erase the fact that the mayor of New Orleans failed in his primary duty to get people out of the city in a timely fashion. If the feds were supposed to be clairvoyant enough to predict a levee break, then they guy that lived inside the walls should have been as well. Hell, he had the plan right there on paper in front of him. It said “will use all available buses, trains, and other methods of transport to evacuate the city”. Which is why we now have the Ray Nagin Memorial Motor Pool.

Many of the things I’ve been reading say that the feds and the military were actually there before the levee broke, but they couldn’t get anything done because state and local officials were obstructing. A factoid that slipped out in an interview with Nagin on CNN.

Which is pointing more and more to FEMA not having screwed the pooch, but FEMA not getting the cooperation that is required from the locals. Which makes them look far worse than they already did. (note after I originally wrote this, but before I posted it here, a story broke about FEMA sending firefighters to ’sensitivity training’ in preparation to be PR flacks. In which case, FEMA should burn too.)

Nagin and Blanco choked. They choked and people got stranded and died. That so many are buying into their blame deflection tells me that

  1. nobody wants to believe that this long after 9/11 there are still localities that have no clue what they are doing in an emergency situation
  2. many people desperatey want to believe that the federal government is better equipped to handle local disasters
  3. and

  4. Bush must be blamed for everything.

Nothing changed after 9/11.
