Lay the side bikeways

Laid the bike down. Not fun. Lesson: don’t try to walk through a U-turn.

No damage to the bike, but I aggravated an already hurt foot. My back hasn’t noticed yet, but I don’t think it will. At least I laid it down gentle like.

Still like it though.

Angry.

Why do I let it get to me? I speak, of course, of the dog. She has this thing – she likes to piss me off. If she wants attention, she can walk in to the office and see me. But she’d rather stand in the doorway and whine. Why? I don’t know. I suspect she wants me to sit on the couch for her, all the time. But I can’t do that.

So I tell her to shut up. And she doesn’t. And I lose my temper and I yell. And she whines more.

Today, I got so pissed that I spun around to get our of my chair, threw my headset off my head, and, in my rage, pulled the wires clean off the plugs for the headset, because it wrapped itself around my foot AGAIN. (yet another thing that pissed me off, not that it will happen again, mind you). In the rage that followed that, I threw the headset across the room (now sans plugs), and it shattered. I exclaimed “Now I can throw you out!”, and did so.

I suspect that the dog actually enjoys seeing me enraged. It’s not doing me any good though. I’m not getting work done if she’s whining at me and my brain snaps out of focus.

I suppose I’ll go give her a cookie and see what that buys me.

The Great Senate Compromise

The Senate has apparently cut a deal whereby three of the ten blocked judicial nominees will be allowed to the floor for a vote without filibuster, seven will be thrown overboard, and the Democrats won’t filibuster any more judicial nominees except in “extreme circumstances”. Extreme circumstances, in this context, likely means “parts her hair on the right.”

If there was ever any doubt that the Republican party is dominated by spineless “go alongs”, this should squash it flat. The Republicans want so badly for the DC Media to like them that they will supplicate themselves to swine like Harry Reid. The Republicans (and their Glorious Leader, G. W. Bush) have no intention of doing anything that actually reduces the power and scope of government. Nor do they care to see that the Constitution is actually enforced.

This was, of course, evident from the moment the Republicans gained majority status in the Senate. They couldn’t cave in to the whining Tom Daschle fast enough. I maintain that the Republicans have never been the majority in the Senate. With the constant use of the filibuster, the Democrats have managed to be majority by other means.

I have never really identified with the Republican party (well, there was that one time, but that was just so I could vote against GWB in the 2000 primary), and this “deal” has basically guaranteed that I’ll never vote for a Republican again. Of course, I’m not goin to vote for the Democrats, either. So, my conservative vote (which is basically meaningless in the dark blue states) will become a protest vote. I will vote for any third party candidate (moonbat or not) when one is available, and will abstain when there are no such candidates.

At one time, I made the argument “At least the Republican is nominally better for liberty than the Democrat.” I appear to have been wrong all along on that, and just needed the proverbial “Clue-by-Four” to open my eyes. Now that they are open, it is quite obvious that there is no fundamental difference between the parties.

Cthulu in 2008! Why settle for the lesser evil?

I don’t want a pickle!

I just wanna ride my motor sickle!

Got me a new toy. Kawasaki Vulcan 800. What a sweet bike this is. I’ll post pictures if I ever get around to taking a decent one.

Rode about 60 miles on Tuesday, going no place in particular. You couldn’t have knocked the smile off my face with a sledge hammer. Well, maybe with a sledge hammer. But you get my point.

It’s going to be a fun summer.

Still think there’s no group-think in the mainstream media?

Austin Bay (by way of Instapundit) categorizes the latest “template-based journalism” scam, this time by Newsweek. As Glenn is wont to say, read the whole thing.

If you had any doubts that the media are biased against this administration, this ought to erase that. Newsweek was so willing to believe anything that makes the U.S. Military look bad, that they went to press with a story that should have made them think twice. They didn’t, and now at least fifteen people are no longer among the living.

What I think is needed here is an object lesson in taking responsibility for one’s actions. We know that Islamists will riot at the drop of a hat. Newsweek has to know that as well. What they (Michael Isikoff, mostly) did was nothing less than incitement. At the very least, Isikoff had to know that pissing off muslims will get a bad reaction.

If there is any possible way, Michael Isikoff (and maybe his bosses at Newsweek that accepted this poorly sourced story for publication) should be facing charges of negligent manslaughter. Maybe a dose of reality will teach the press to check their facts a little better instead of rushing to get a scoop on the latest template hit piece.

Some people just need killin’

How deranged do you have to be to decide that it’s appropriate to stab an 8 year old in the eyes? That’s what Jerry Hobbs did to his daughter and her 9 year old friend.

Why? Because she was supposed to be grounded, but mommy let her go play.

And this piece of shit is on suicide watch. Why? Just let the motherfucker kill himself and save the people the time, effort and expense of trying him, housing him, and listening to him try to justify stabbing two little girls to death.

He claims that he did it in self-defense, because the friend pulled a knife on him. He also claims that he did the deed with that same knife.

Hey asshole – if you disarm your opponent, and they are no physical match for you otherwise, you win. Walk the fuck away.

Hopefully some kind soul in the prison system will stab him in the neck on principle. I would.

America’s foremost Nazi apologist sticks his keyboard in his mouth

Racist, anti-semite, and all around idiot Pat Buchanan adds another notch to his stellar writing career: Nazi apologist.

Stephen Green at Vodkapundit issues a BRUTAL (and well deserved) fisking of Pat’s latest WorldNetDaily column.

UPDATE! InstaPunk layeth the smacketh down too. Read it.

Pat seems to have developed a little bit of historical amnesia here. France and England didn’t draw Hitler into Western Europe by declaring war on Germany. The domination of Western Europe was ALWAYS part of the grand plans of the Reich. It was all a matter of timing, actually.

And if Pat (or anyone else) believes that Hitler didn’t have designs on America, they are deluding themselves. Hell, he signed the Axis pact with Japan, and conned them into attacking us, remember? That whole December 7, 1941 thing? Hitler seems to have thought that we would be too busy dealing the Japan to bother him, and he’d be able to grab the rest of Europe, consolidate his power, and assert his will on a weakened America.

He goofed.

Should we have gone on to Moscow? I believe so. Stephen thinks (and has vets who back him up) that it wasn’t an option. At the very least, we could have fought a little harder for Eastern Europe.

This latest effort further cements my inability to take Buchanan seriously.

OK, Maybe there’s something to this personality test thing…

INTP – the Architect
Your Type is 0% Extroverted, 25% Observant, 100% Logical and 43% Structured
You are more introverted than extroverted. You are more intuitive than
observant, you are more thinking based than feeling based, and you
prefer to go with the flow rather than have a routine. The single word
to describe your type is the Architect, which belongs to the larger
group of rationals. You wish to sculpt the world around you. Others
often find you arrogant, yet you have no desire to direct others, only
to inform them. You must know the structure of things, and have a
voracious appetite for knowledge. You are very rational in everything
you do, and probably consider yourself smarter than most.
As a romantic partner, you can be playful with great energy to get
things started, but not quite as good on follow through. You may have a
tendency to hurt the more emotional types unintentionally by not
sharing your own reactions and feelings as you can get swept up in your
own ideas and projects. You want to be appreciated for your ability to
respond quickly and to fix problems creatively. You need plenty of time
to yourself – therefore your parnter must respect your need for
independence and originality.
Your group summary: Rationals (NT)
Your type summary: INTP
