Just testing out imaging.

This is Carmen. Carmen is mom’s old Dobie. Carmen left us last year, or was it two years ago. She was a good dog. She’d throw a temper tantrum if you didn’t give her a cookie when she came inside. silly girl.

Enough already!

OK, I am so ready for spring. It’s been snowing pretty much all week. It stopped for a little while today, but that’s just to lull us into a false sense of security as we are scheduled to get nailed yet again tonight. They’re saying 1-3″, but I don’t believe them. They were calling for 5-10 from the last one and we got 3. I’m thinking they have this one backwards too, and we’re gonna get a foot.

I hope I’m wrong. I usually am. But that gives me about the same record as the weather guy, and I don’t have the degree or the fancy radar.

Toy Guns, Real Guns

Mayor Michael Bloomberg (RINO-NY) decided to play a little game today. He brought a real-looking toy gun to a press conference. He then talked about cracking down on the shops that sell these toys, because cops have shot people that are brandishing toy guns.

No Child Left?

Read this.

So, our resident policital hack Moira Lyons (D-Stamford, district 146) wants to exempt Connecticut from NCLB. There’s a surprise - a Democrat supporting the teacher’s union.

Of course the REAL howler in this is the last paragraph. If NCLB is intruding on state’s rights, then what the hell is the entire Department of Education? Or were they planning to get to that? Didn’t think so.

Learning R Fun!

In case you hadn’t noticed, I wimped out and picked a default layout and style for the blog. Why? Because I have no clue. But I am learning about this Movable Type blog software. Very powerful stuff.

Notice the category list up there ^^

And in the archive list over there ->
I’ve added links to the category archives to both places. Edit one file, and bang!

This is how software should be. And Gutenberg would be proud.

Snow…

March 16th and snowing. No, it isn’t unusual to get snow in Connecticut in March.

But I’m crying foul anyhow. It was in the 60s last week. Mother Nature misrepresented her true intentions. Mother Nature clearly indicated that Spring was imminent, and it has become clear that she intentionally misrepresented the intelligence she had on the movements of Old Man Winter and his Weather of Mass Destruction.

I say to you that we were duped into a false sense of security by Mother Nature that left us vulnerable to weather we were clearly not prepared for.

New Math

Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission:

It is clear that using force is not the answer to resolving the conflict with terrorists.
… terrorism is infinitely more powerful than a year ago.

Again with the Global Warming

Yet another report from a leftist think-tank (isn’t that an oxymoron?) - now we are approaching the point where evil humans have done so much damage to poor old Earth that it’s going to be irreversible.

He’s right, you know

George Carlin can always be counted on to say it straight. Unlike many so-called comedians (M. Cho anyone) Carlin’s wit doesn’t come from venomous hatred. Carlin is a genuinely intelligent guy. He’s a liberal, but we can forgive that minor transgression.

He’s right - the current introspection on “filth” in the media will pass in a short while and we’ll be back to “titties and beer”. After all, how can a congress that has former members hawking dick pills possibly claim to care about media obscenity? I’d bet Janet has solved more “erectile” problems than Viagra ever has, if you get my drift (wink, wink - nudge, nudge).

Spain Cries Uncle

Well, it looks as if the Socialists have won in Spain.

It looks like Al Qaeda managed to convince the people of Spain to exercise the better part of valor and RUN.

Who’s next?
