Enough of the idiocy already
OK, I’ve heard and read the last of the standard leftist template on the Iraq war that I can stand. I think I’ll puke if I have to endure it one more time. Those of you who don’t already know the standard anti-war/anti-Bush talking points, I’ll repeat them for you:
Bush led us into this stupid war on a lie. There were no WMD. He did this to avenge his daddy (whom Hussein allegedly attempted to assassinate), to get his hands on Iraqi oil, and to hand a fat contract to Halliburton for Cheney.
Now you and I both know this is totally stupid. Like stick your hand on a burner stupid. But so many people believe it. Let’s tear these so-called real reasons apart.
- Avenge his daddy? Bill Clinton already did that. Killed a janitor in the process.
- Get the Iraqi Oil? If we were interested in nothing more than the oil, we could have removed the sanctions like France wanted and let him sell it. Militarily, we would have been better off carpet-bombing population centers and taking over with as few humans remaining as possible. Hell, if you’re gonna go the war-criminal route of invading a country for its resources, you’ve already said fuck it to honor and decency, so what’s a little genocide?
- That no-bid contract dates back to either the beginning of the Clinton administration or the end of Bush 41’s administration. And it’s mighty sick of you to assume that George Bush would commit high treason and capital murder to benefit a company that doesn’t have any ties to him at all. What’s in it for him? All downside risk with no upside potential.
The existence or lack thereof of WMD in Iraq in 2003 is irrelevant. Hussein refused to prove that they were gone, therefore a sane person concludes he still has them somewhere. To say that he lied is to say that pretty much the entire world (France included) conspired to lie about Saddam’s weapons. Not very likely.
So please, just cut it out. You hate George Bush because your cardboard cutout of a man lost last election. And you’re going to be even worse when the new cardboard cutout loses this election. I hope we can build the asylums fast enough to hold you until your collective madness passes and we can welcome you back to civilized society as functional members.
