So this is it, then. They really are the enemy.
The government, that is.
Senators, Congressmen, and the Attorney General of the State of New York are now attacking the individuals who received bonuses from AIG. These are payments to which these employees were entitled, and which were protected by the very TARP legislation that led to AIG getting billions of taxpayer dollars. Now these same morons on Capitol Hill who put the provision in there have announced their intentions to forcibly extract that money from those same employees with a special tax.
When Senator Reid launched a personal attack on Rush Limbaugh from the floor of the senate in 2007, it was shocking. Here was an elected official assaulting a private citizen, and having his assault recorded for all eternity in the Congressional Record.
In the past month, we have had several Senators and Congressmen, the Office of the President of the United States of America, and the President himself viciously attacking private citizens for daring to question the wisdom of bailing out failed businesses while simultaneously setting the country up for disastrous inflation and devaluation of currency in the future.
This is what it has come to. The government no longer fears us. The government no longer serves us. The government no longer represents us.
The government wants to destroy us.
