The beginning of the end.

Connecticut did it - they passed a law allowing for public financing of elections.

Oh well. I was nice having a few token Republicans in the General Assembly. They’ll be gone now, unless they play ball with the Democrat majority.

I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around why Jodi Rell played this gambit. There’s really only one of two ways this plays out - either incumbents never face challengers, because the public financing gets “delayed”, or nobody that doesn’t meet with the approval of the current majority party gets no financing on some technical exclusion.

Stick a fork in it. This state is done.

Lobbyists are forbidden from making campaign contributions. And they’ve forbidden state contractors from contributing to campaigns. Nothing about the unions though.

I suspect that now is a good time to consider getting the hell out of Connecticut.
