Philly Classic 5
Welcome to the first post from the road for Applied Indifference! Coming to you (sort-of) live from the (now closed) convention floor of the PhillyClassic5 Classic Video Game event. It’s nice to see young people come to these things and enjoy the games I grew up with as much as I enjoyed them. Highlights:
There are new games being released on old consoles. Seeing its first availability since being finished in 1984(!) - Saboteur for the Atari 2600 VCS. This game was written by Howard Scott Warshaw (of Yars’ Revenge, Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. fame). It promises to be fun. I’ll post a review after I’ve played it through.
Also on display were several homebrew games for the 2600, 5200, and the Colecovision. You can get these from the good folks at AtariAge.
Adventure 2 (for the 5200) is nearly complete. Looks really promising. Yes, you are still a block. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
There was also a sizable arcade of our favorite classic games. It took me a while, but I got my name on Robotron.
There were several vendors hawking items new, old, and hidden. Marc and I did a little spending. Here’s the stuff that Marc picked up. I picked up significantly less.
We’ll be back to rummage around and rub elbows some more tomorrow. I have more pictures, but the blog is being a little bitch and won’t let me post them. And I don’t have any image editing software on my (freshly reloaded) laptop to make them small enough for MT to like them. I’ll post thos pics when we get back.
